LSO St Luke’s is an 18th century, Grade 1 listed Hawksmoore church, restored to house the London Symphony Orchestra’s education program, rehearsals, recordings and performances.
The signage scheme is a musical one - each sign is made up from real, tuned aluminum xylophone keys, screen-printed with patterns relating to the original Hawksmoore church. The keys are assembled on a chamber, allowing them to play a musical note when hit with a beater.
Working with traditional xylophone makers, the concept was brought to life, taking special care to use materials and colours which would complement the unique interior.
